Build A Better GEDCOM
Build A Better GEDCOM - an excellent new project to create a standard for the next generation of genealogy data storage and interchange has just been launched. Anyone who has used genealogy software will know the vagaries of trying to move their data from one software package to another, or even just upgradeg from an old version to a newer one of the same package! Hopefully the new project will help make this a thing of the past.

For your convenience, the Professor presents a machine for the entirely automatic extraction of names and dates from documents such as birth, death and marriage certificates. The machine will subsequently present the retrieved data in an ordered manner suitable for use with a tabulation device. Simply place a certificate in the machines document aperture and the process will begin automatically. The machine can process up to two documents per hour and requires a mere 8 gallons of water to operate.
